Return of the Clean Seas Odyssey

Some of you who followed last years Clean Seas Odyssey may be wondering whether it was a one hit wonder or whether we intend to continue our fight for the health of our seas. The truth is that we remain utterly committed to doing our part to protect our planet and its oceans and with this in mind we are pleased today to announce Clean Seas Odyssey Week at Portland Marina.

We really enjoyed our Odyssey and one of the best bits was the support that we got from folks on our way. Nearly all of the harbours and marinas we visited chipped in with free moorings and other support – and no one did more than Dean & Reddyhoff who run the marinas at Haslar, East Cowes, Weymouth, Deacons (on the Hamble) and Portland Harbour.

We were delighted therefore when the guys at Portland contacted us to ask whether we would like to help them celebrate their 10th birthday this coming August. Just like Amelie Rose the marina there opened for business back in 2009 and they have decided to mark their tenth anniversary with a week of sea themed events culminating in a Big Beach Clean.

Amelie Rose will be there for the whole week (Monday 19th August – Sunday 25th August) and will be available for you to look around and chat to the Clean Seas Odyssey crew (Monday through Friday) from 1000hrs to 1200hrs (FREE). Each afternoon (Monday through Friday) we’ll be heading out for a short taster sail too, leaving at 1300hrs and arriving back at 1700hrs. Tickets for this are just £25 so there’s no excuse for not trying out the Amelie Rose experience! On Saturday we will be doing a longer day sail – joining the boat at 0900hrs and returning to Portland at 1600hrs for post sail drinks on the boat until 1700hrs (just £95 per ticket – book here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/come-sailing-and-learn-about-sea-plastic-pollution-with-clean-seas-odyssey-tickets-63107702838).

Sunday will see the crew join the Big Beach Clean Event that is being run by the Portland Team – kicking off at 1000 and running until 1600. We’ll also be giving a talk about the Clean Seas Odyssey at the “Talks in the Tent” venue at 1800hrs on Monday 19th August.

We’re really excited to be back on the Clean Seas Odyssey Trail once more and hope that you can come along to chat about plastic pollution in our seas and what we can all do about it.
