Topsail Adventures 2021 Covid-19 Update #3 – 19 March 2021

by | Mar 19, 2021 | Archived News (Live), Topsail Adventures News

After much careful checking with the RYA and British Marine (who have been liaising with “the powers that be”) we are now happy to announce that we will be recommencing normal charter operations on 28 May 2021. Our revamped Summer Schedule is now live on the website and we are really looking forward to welcoming you all aboard once more, and to GOING SAILING! For more about our Covid-19 cancellation policies and what we will be doing to keep you safe onboard, please read on.

Current Situation / What’s next?

We have looked to de-risk our 2021 Schedule by sticking to UK waters and sailing in areas that have mainly avoided high incidences of Covid-19 (The New Forest, IOW, Cornwall, Isles of Scilly). With this new schedule live on the website (and already booking up fast) we have also resumed “normal” service with regards to taking deposits on any new bookings. We’ll be in touch with those of you who have booked since the deposit suspension came into force in order to sort this out.

Cancellation by us due to Covid-19 restrictions

We will continue to run the same rolling 6-week cancellation window as we did last year – making the go/no-go decision on each trip at the same time as the balance payments fall due – which minimizes the amount of money that you will have paid to us in case of a cancellation.

If we cancel a trip then we will automatically issue you a CV19 Voucher for the total amount that you have on account with us. Accepting these vouchers will be a massive help to us as we try to survive the financial shock of losing an entire year’s business with very little government assistance. However, if you would prefer to get a full refund then we will issue this upon receipt of your request and your bank details.

Cancellation by you due to Covid-19 issues

If you find that you can no longer come along on your adventure due to; government Covid-19 restrictions, a direction to isolate given by NHS Track & Trace, developing Covid-19 symptoms, getting a positive Covid-19 test, or simply deciding that the risk to your health is too high due to Covid-19, we will automatically issue you a CV19 Voucher for the total amount that you have on account with us, as long as you let us know before your adventure has commenced. As previously mentioned, accepting these vouchers will be a huge help to us as we strive to keep the business afloat despite minimal government support. If, however you require a full refund then we will issue this as soon as we receive your request and bank details.

Cancellations for other reasons will continue to be treated as per our published Terms and Conditions.

Keeping you safe aboard.

It should be noted that despite all of the safeguards detailed below, it will be impossible for us to guarantee the health of our guests and crew especially should someone embark who is carrying the virus. This is due to Covid-19’s airborne nature and the close proximity of the living quarters on the Amelie Rose. Whilst we will be taking all reasonable precautions, we recommend that anyone in any of the high-risk categories (see below) ensures that they have been vaccinated before they come sailing with us.

Higher Risk Categories: Anyone aged 50+, and people of any age with; high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, chronic diseases of either the kidneys or liver, anyone possessing a BMI of 40+, or anyone having a weakened immune system:

Actions that we will be taking aboard the Amelie Rose

  • Provision of extra anti-viral wipes, soap, sanitising hand-gel etc.
  • Regular cleaning of hard surfaces/handles/handholds during the adventure.
  • Ventilation of the vessel when in harbour/at anchor.
  • Regular temperature/health checks for all on board.
  • Thorough cleaning of the vessel between trips.

Further to these actions we will ask that all guests (and crew) take a free Lateral Flow Test (available from https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests) 3 days before joining the boat. In the case of a positive result, it will then be possible to get an NHS PCR test (https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test) to confirm a negative result before joining the boat.

We ask that any guests who do get a positive Covid-19 test result, or whom have experienced Covid-19 symptoms in the past fortnight, do not join the boat but contact us in order to discuss the situation.

We also ask that all guests who are able to, use the NHS Covid-19 app on their smartphones for the duration of the adventure.

All guests will be asked to sign a declaration before boarding, stating that they have had a negative test and have not been suffering from Covid-19 symptoms or tested positive for Covid-19 in the last fortnight.

Once the adventure has started, we will ask that everyone sanitises their hands when re-joining the boat from ashore and follow all local regulations whilst out and about (e.g. wearing face-masks where required etc.)
