Pilot Cutter Amelie Rose Launches 2012 Schedule

With just three trips to go before we pack up Amelie Rose for the Winter our minds are turning to the exciting adventures that we have planned for 2012.

Our usual mix of Traditional Taster weekends, RYA courses and trips to the wonderful Isles of Scilly and Channel Islands will be crowned by an expedition to the fantastic Brest Festival 2012.

Biggest isn't always best mind and we'll also be visiting Fowey Classics - one of the friendliest festivals on the South Coast as well as playing with the rest of the Pilot Cutter fleet at the St Georges Cup in Yarmouth and the Pilot Cutter Review in St Mawes.

Amelie Rose and the Hungry Sailors

If you've been following our exploits on the website, facebook and twitter feeds you'll know that we've spent a large amount of the year filming for a new ITV1 series called The Hungry Sailors.

The series follows TV Personality and Celebrity Masterchef finalist Dick Strawbridge, his son James, Skipper Nick and First Mate Steve on a cruise along the South Coast aboard our very own Amelie Rose. Starting in Fowey and finishing in the heart of London the crew have visited almost every port in between.

At each stop Dick and James have been heading ashore to work with interesting food producers, design ingenious contraptions and find great food to cook aboard for the folks that they've met.

Amelie Rose brings London to a standstill, twice!

At precisely 1400 on Monday 29th August there was a traffic jam in the vicinity of the Mayors office on the South Bank and the Tower of London to the North. This was caused, as it is on a moderately regular basis, by Tower Bridge opening to let a boat into London Pool.

But this wasn't some over-sized gin palace or cruise liner coming to moor alongside HMS Belfast, nor even a Thames Barge carrying guests on a cruise up the Thames, nope, not that.

This was to let Amelie Rose through into the heart of London as we shot the finishing sequences to the first series of ITV's new series Hungry Sailors.
