Races, Festivals & Special Events

Amelie Rose will be attending two major events this year:

The Pilot Cutter World Championships 2017 - (The Classic Sailing St Mawes Pilot Cutter Review)

stmawespcs3.jpg

It's the highlight of the Pilot Cutter year as boats from all over the country head to the St Mawes Pilot Cutter Review in this stunning Cornish harbour. There's always plenty of action on the water but the camerarderie ashore is what really makes this event special.

It's the longest running of the Pilot Cutter events, regularly attracting a big fleet of these magnificent boats to engage in the friendliest of rivalries. There's no need for bulging muscles and a head full of rules, just turn up and enjoy.

Amelie Rose won the event in 2015 and came second last time so we're really looking forward to the 2017 event and hope that you can join us.

Paimpol Festival du Chant de Marin

Paimpol Festival

Paimpol is the "Goldilocks" of the Breton Festivals - not too big, not too small, but just right. It's our favourite by far, which is saying something because when it comes to organising traditional boat festivals, our friends across the water have got it nailed.

There's always tons to see and do, from watching music at one of the many stages and venues around the quay, to taking a stroll around the picturesque town and enjoying a drink at one of the many cafes and restaurants. This festival usually scores highly on the "slightly cooky" front too. Last time around we were entertained by a huge steampunk camel that perambulated around the show - animated by hordes of puppeteers, and also by an impromptu  shanty gig on Amelie Rose's foredeck.

That the organisers really care about the crews is what makes this event super special. From an enormous (and free) sit down welcome meal thrown on the first night, to the dedicated crew areas we are made to feel like kings and queens and guarentees this trip to be the highlight of the year.

As an added bonus the trips there and back include a Channel crossing AND a tour around the Channel Islands so for a holiday that you'll never forget come along and enjoy the fun. You can book aboard for just one half of the festival or the other, but that would be a waste. Join us for the whole shebang - you won't regret it.
