Pilot Cutter Amelie Rose - Testimonials |

"Many thanks for a brilliant weekends sailing. The combination of a
beautiful boat and your willingness and openness to share your passion
for, and knowledge of, this boat and for sailing in general made for a
truly memorable weekend. Your patience and ability to let people 'be'
and yet to encourage them to gain new skills and experiences is a gift."
Derek - Hayling Island
"Wonderful and such happy memories! I don't know which is more important - your ability to gather great people to your boat or your talent for letting everyone be themselves at the same time as getting them to work together - I suspect it's both. By the time we returned to Poole, what had at first seemed a confusion of ropes, blocks and tackles had been transformed into intuitive simplicity. Amelie Rose's performance is breathtaking: generous and majestic in light airs; exhilarating when the breeze picks up. This is a ship with a big smile. She gets inside your skin. If you venture on board, prepare to be hooked."Mel and Steve - New Forest
"It sure was a great weekend, and also a bit of a fun culture shock for a plastic boat skipper!!!!." Peter Halliwell - Hampshire
"Lisa and I spent a wonderful and very memorable week sailing between Portsmouth and Cornwall. It was a magical trip where we benefited from Nick and Melisa's experience, enthusiasm for sailing, cooking and fantastic approach to learning. By the end of the week we both felt competent with basic sailing skills, which fuelled our imagination and appetite to get on the water more often."Christian and Lisa - New Zealand
"We had a wonderful time sailing across the Solent on a bright
October morning. As novices we got a chance to steer the boat, help get
the sails up and even tack while enjoying the sights. We learned a lot;
when we got on the boat we didn't even know what tacking was! With
the spinnaker (huge sail at the front of the boat) up we flew over the
water to the Isle of White where we anchored up in the middle of a
nature reserve near Cowes. Then our very own water taxi rowed us (with
Nick at the oars) to a fantastic pub where we had dinner on shore. We
both enjoyed our very first outing on the boat and heartily recommend
it, especially the giant cooked breakfast (courtesy of Melisa) to get
you started in the morning."Sarah & Simon Brightwell - Essex
"Thanks Melisa and Nick for a great holiday down to Falmouth. One of my favourite memories was my stint at the helm whilst Nick and I worked the night shift, watching the stars slowly glide by and keeping an eye out for ships. I also enjoyed the dolphin surfing off our bow and the many tasty pasties. I learned enough on that trip to make me feel like a reasonably safe crewman with a taste for the sea, yargghh!" Pirate Max - Bournemouth
"Having never sailed before, I approached the weekend with Melisa and Nick with some trepidation. The sun was shining, and there was a good breeze and before long we were out in the Solent with all the sails up. I took the helm and Nick showed me how to steer a course. We spent the night at anchor after a fantastic barbeque and a couple of glasses of wine. Nick & Melisa are very patient teachers, and I look forward to joining them on board again to resume my studies." Martin Rosser - London
"I felt confident and assured in the company of such experienced instructors."Dale Spencer - Nottingham"I had a fantastic time and learned lots of sailing knots."
Josh Spencer - Nottingham
"Nick and Melisa were very welcoming hosts. I enjoyed the sail to
Cowes. It was a bonus that there was a major power boat race taking
place at the time of the sail. We had front row seats for all the
action from this." Ryan Spencer - Nottingham "We were confident that we were in
capable hands. We received full health and safety instructions,
including the use of the emergency radio on board, before we set off
from the marina. We had a delicious lunch at a pub that we were able to
moor up close to due to Nick and Melisa's excellent knowledge of local
amenities and places to visit when we were not sailing"
Penny Spencer - Nottingham "I felt I had to write and say thank you for the wonderful week we spent with you last August. As you remember it was my first experience of yachting and I was nervous and apprehensive, but my wife had asked to go as a birthday treat and she loves sailing. On our arrival you made us so welcome and my nervousness was soon overcome by your professional manner. We carried out the 'man overboard' drill and I felt totally confident you both knew what you were doing. We had asked to go to a good fish restaurant on my wife's birthday, and your choice was first class. All in all, my first experience in sailing was wonderful, even with the choppy seas, and we look forward to sharing another week with you in the future. Thank you both for a wonderful experience."
